Widgets Ahoy!
Whoa. Where’d that come from?
Christmas break has given me some free time to post some fairly significant site updates, most noticeably some new widgets for the sidebar on the left!
Now you can keep track of me on XBox Live and Steam game services, and see how I’ve chosen to spend my free time lately (not that I have much, but it comes with the territory).
Now, this wouldn’t be k3vin.net if I didn’t have something programming-related to share with you, so I present to you some Widget Source Code, so you can add these stunningly-awesome widgets to your own WordPress site with relative ease. This brings me to the second site update: attachment pages! Click on the link to see my (stunningly rendered) “Awesome Download Button™” that will start your file download (if Javascript doesn’t take care of it for you already).
It’s not for the average joe, however, as you’ll want to style the widget to match your WordPress theme, and I haven’t included stylesheets for you to work with. If you have any CSS experience, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out, so give ‘em a try, and let me know how you fare in the comments below.
Since each widget makes a server-side HTTP request, these widgets add a little overhead to the page loading times. I’m planning on making it AJAX-loading in the future to hopefully resolve this, but we’ll see how it goes.
So there you go: Christmas Break = Site Updates + Widgets + Source Code. Awesome.
